As you begin to select your college major, this event will give you an inside view of careers in computer science and STEM, as well as show you how an Illinois Tech education can set you apart.

At this event, you’ll meet Orbis Technologies President & CEO Brian Ippolito (Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering ‘92) and Chief Financial Officer Matt Fernandez (Mechanical Engineering ‘89). They will discuss what it’s like to work at Orbis, opportunities in the field of computer science, and their journeys from Illinois Tech to launching and leading Orbis Technologies.

Biographies

Brian Ippolito

President and CEO

Brian IppolitoBrian Ippolito has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbis Technologies, Inc. since 2006. Under his leadership, Orbis has established itself as an industry leading Global Content Management Software, Solutions and Services company that provides products and services around the world. With a client roster of Fortune 100 business, U.S. military and intelligence community organizations, federal agencies, and global publishers and media companies, Orbis has software deployed in over 50 cities in 12 countries on four continents around the globe. 

Prior to Orbis, Brian was Director of Advanced Programs and Products, C4ISR and Networked Systems at Northrop Grumman, where he directed many advanced technology programs and business operations. His work at Northrop Grumman and at Orbis benefitted immensely from his time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a researcher, where he published numerous papers and contributed to the book Lean Enterprise Value, Insights from MIT’s Lean Aerospace Initiative.

Brian served in the United States Air Force and has received numerous awards and recognition to include the prestigious John J. Welch Award for Acquisition Excellence and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Maryland.

Brian received a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management and the Graduate School of Engineering. He is currently serving on the Alumni Board for Illinois Institute of Technology.

Matt Fernandez

Chief Financial Officer

Matt FernandezMatt has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Orbis Technologies since 2012. He brings more than 20 years of experience in business management, mergers, acquisition and corporate finance. Matt served as Chief Financial Officer for the New Jersey Region of Ryan Homes, a division of NVR, Inc., one of the largest homebuilders in the nation with over $3 billion in annual revenue. There he developed the company’s business operating plan for the New Jersey region, with average revenue of over $100 million. Prior to NVR, Matt worked for Visteon Corporation, the third largest automotive supplier in the world with $11 billion in annual revenues and 80 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Matt has served in the United States Navy as Surface Warfare Officer within the Combat Systems Department. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
