Reserve Officer Training Corps Program

ROTC at IIT—Learn, Grow, Lead

ROTC is a four-year program designed to develop your leadership skills, provide you with valuable real-world tools, and help you grow both mentally and physically. The program will give you the skills and acumen that you need in order to be a successful officer or leader in the corporate world. Did you know that 10 of the top Fortune 100 companies have or have had CEOs with military experience? You can start on the path to becoming an officer with the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Illinois Institute of Technology!

All branches of the United States military are represented at IIT, and all branches serve the entire Chicago area. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy/Marine Corps have offices at IIT; the U.S. Army is based at a partner university. All cadets complete coursework on IIT's Main Campus.

ROTC is an elective curriculum that you take along with your required college courses. It gives you the tools, training, and experiences to help you succeed in any competitive environment. You will have a normal student experience like everyone else on campus, but when you graduate, you will be an officer in the United States military!

Being an officer in the U.S. military means you’re a leader, a counselor, a strategist, and a motivator. It’s similar to being a vital manager in a corporation. As an officer, you will lead other soldiers sailors, and airmen in all situations and within environments that are always changing. You’ll be driven to achieve success with your team on every mission.

ROTC can also help you with the rising costs of college education with an array of full or partial scholarships that cover tuition and books, and even provide extra monthly spending money so that you can focus on your academics instead of how you will pay for them. IIT makes ROTC even more attractive by turning any partial scholarship into a full scholarship!
