First Year Scholarships

All applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships, starting at $10,000. Merit-based aid is included in your offer of admission. Domestic students who submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will receive additional need-based financial aid award information in March.

PLEASE NOTE: If a student earns multiple Illinois Institute of Technology merit scholarships throughout the admission process, the university will award the highest merit award for which the student is qualified, but will not combine multiple awards.

CAMRAS SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Application Deadline: December 1
All applicants who submit their admissions application through the Common App prior to Dec 1 are automatically considered for the Camras Scholars Program. No additional materials are needed.

Candidates competing for the Camras Scholars Program, one of Illinois Tech's highest undergraduate academic honors, satisfy very high selection standards. Students must demonstrate outstanding academics, involvement in extracurricular activities and dedication to leadership.

Camras Scholars enjoy full tuition benefits, leadership development and enhanced access to research and community service opportunities.

CROWN SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: December 1

The Crown Scholarship provides full tuition for five years to one first-year, full-time architecture students. The Crown Scholarship looks for creativity, ingenuity and a desire to study architecture in a historic place like Chicago, Illinois Tech, and S. R. Crown Hall. Students need to provide academic credentials and an original freehand drawing. Selected applicants are invited to interview on campus in mid-February with a panel of architecture professionals and college studio faculty.

DUCHOSSOIS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS

Application Deadline: December 1

The Duchossois Leadership Scholars Program is a nationally preeminent, elite scholarship program providing full-tuition with a room and board allowance attracting top students nationwide who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and academic success in their projected field. M.A. AND LILA SELF LEADERSHIP ACADEMY SCHOLARS

Named for University Regent Al Self and his wife, Lila, the M.A. and Lila Self Leadership Academy Scholarship is a distinguished and prestigious award given to the top applicants to the university that demonstrate exceptional leadership potential.

ILLINOIS TECH INNOVATION CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP

All currently enrolled Chicago-area high school students are invited to enter the Innovation Challenge at Illinois Tech. Your creativity and inventiveness can pay off! Win up to $2,500 nd a scholarship for up to $25,000 per year at Illinois Tech.

ILLINOIS TECH ESPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: January 1
Eligible applicants who submit their admissions application through the Common App prior to Jan 1 and indicate their interest in Esports within their applicaiton are automatically considered for the ESports Scholarship. No additional materials are needed.

Illinois Tech offers a $2500 scholarship to select students who are interested in participating in our ESports community. To be considered, simply indicate your interest in your Common Application and submit your completed application before January 1.

COLLENS SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Application Deadline: January 15
Eligible applicants who submit their admissions application through the Common App prior to Jan 15 are automatically considered for the Collens Scholars Program. No additional materials are needed.

The Collens Scholarship provides full tuition and fees to eligible high school seniors with significant need graduating from a Chicago public high school or a Chicago charter high school to attend Illinois Tech as a full-time student.

ILLINOIS TECH Vex Robotics Scholarship

Illinois Tech is proud to award scholarships to students who actively participate in high school VEX robotics programs. This scholarship attracts candidates that possess a strong academic record, a passion for science and technology, and drive to become leaders and innovators in STEM related subjects. Recipients of a VEX scholarship are eligible for a merit scholarship award of $25,000 per year for up to four years (five years for architecture).

ILLINOIS TECH FIRST Robotics Scholarship

Illinois Tech FIRST scholarships are awarded to students who actively participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge and the FIRST Robotics Competition. This program attracts candidates that demonstrate a strong academic record, passion for science and technology, and drive to become a leader, entrepreneur or innovator. Recipients of a FIRST scholarship are eligible for a merit scholarship award of $25,000 per year for up to four years (five years for Architecture).

ILLINOIS TECH NROTC PREPARATORY SCHOLARSHIP

Illinois Tech’s 2020 Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Prep Program presents a special opportunity for 10–12 students to prepare for success both in their STEM fields of study and as officers in the United States Navy. During the preparatory year, students will receive:

  • Full-year scholarship, including room and board
  • $400 textbook stipend
  • Academic mentoring and advising
  • Focused educational-skills courses
  • Association with the NROTC unit including physical fitness training

Upon successful completion of the 2020 preparatory year (see programs requirements below), up to 10 students will be awarded a four-year full-tuition, room, and board scholarship by the Department of the Navy leading to a commission as an officer in the United States Navy. This special preparatory program establishes a pathway for students to receive an accredited bachelor’s degree from Illinois Tech.

CHICAGO POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of their service to the city of Chicago, Illinois Tech offers $20,000 annual scholarships to the children and grandchildren of members of the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department. The Chicago Police and Fire Departments Scholarship is also open to the children and grandchildren of members of the Chicago Paramedic Department.

ELEVATE SCHOLARSHIP

All applicants who submit their admissions application through the Common App prior are automatically considered for the Elevate Scholarship. No additional materials are needed.

The Elevate program is a hub that connects Illinois Tech students with hundreds of experiential learning opportunities offered at the university and beyond. Select students are offered awards up to $5,000 to use toward Elevate experiences.

HEALD SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: Ongoing

All freshman domestic students are eligible for the Heald Scholarship (starting at $10,000). All full-time students will automatically be considered for this merit-based scholarship when their application for admission is reviewed.

RESERVE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS (ROTC)

All branches of the United States military are represented at Illinois Tech. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy are headquartered at IIT; the U.S. Army is based at a partner university, but has an on campus office as well. All three branches serve the entire Chicago area.

  • The 195th Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadet Wing is stationed on Illinois Tech's Main Campus in Stuart Building, Room 208
  • The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps office is located on Illinois Tech's Main Campus in Stuart Building, Room 217
  • The Chicago Fire Battalion Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Program is headquartered on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago and has their Illinois Tech offices on the entire first floor of Farr Hall.
