Non-Degree Students

Take courses at Illinois Tech without having to pursue your degree! Eligible visiting and exchange students and current students enrolled in the Military Science/Crosstown ROTC or VanderCook College of Music programs are welcome to apply.

How to Apply as a Non-Degree or Visiting/Exchange Student

Step One: Fill out an application.

Illinois Tech accepts applications for fall, spring and summer term.

  • Fall Term runs August to December
  • Spring Term runs Late January to mid-May
  • Summer term runs End of May to mid-August

Step Two: Submit your unofficial transcript

Non-Degree applicants will need to submit unofficial transcripts as evidence that you have met pre-requisites for the courses you wish to take. You can email your supporting documents to or mail them to the following address:

Visiting and Exchange Program

Study at Illinois Tech among a diverse student body in one of the world's greatest cities - Chicago! The International Visiting and Exchange Program is for students who are enrolled as a full-time student overseas and who are interested in spending a semester or a year at Illinois Tech.

Please consult the International Office at your current university for more information regarding your study abroad experience and to verify whether your institution has a direct exchange agreement with Illinois Tech.

Military Science/Crosstown ROTC

Students who want to enroll in undergraduate coursework at Illinois Tech at less than full-time status, for ROTC from crosstown institutions, or students who do not intend to obtain an Illinois Tech degree must fill out the appropriate form(s) below.
