The Pre-Medicine program lets students pursue their undergraduate degree program while completing coursework they will need to apply and succeed in medical school.
Students are assigned an advisor who will help them prepare for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). They’ll also help gather information about volunteer and research opportunities. In addition IIT has a Pre-medical Advisory Committee that helps monitor students’ academic progress
IIT offers several options for pursuing a career in the health professions. Joint programs in medicine lead to a Bachelor of Science degree from IIT and either a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Optometry degree from another Chicago area school.
There is also a Pre-Pharmacy program which allows early entrance into pharmacy school at Midwestern University.
Additional options include a minor in pre-medical studies. This ensures completion of all pre-requisites for entrance into medical school and prepares students for their M1 year. There also is a post-baccalaureate program for college graduates who want to pursue a medical education but lack the necessary academic background.
