School of Applied Technology

Cutting-edge technology for today and tomorrow

IIT School of Applied Technology (SAT) offers certificate, short course and degree programs on IIT Main Campus in Chicago and at Rice Campus in suburban Wheaton.

SAT will prepare you to excel in the exciting disciplines of new and emerging information technologies. You will learn the application and integration of such technologies, as well as the administrative practices used to manage them effectively.

  • Courses in Information Technology and Management are designed to provide you with solid knowledge in the field and to prepare you to take industry-standard certification exams.
  • Cyber Forensics and Security program courses draw from offerings at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, preparing you to address the challenges of computer privacy and network security.
  • Courses in Industrial Technology and Management prepare you for managerial positions in industry—ideal for technical specialists who need formal management education and training.

Graduate students explore technology and the management issues involved in cutting-edge technology to develop business solutions. You’ll be guided by faculty-experts with strengths in areas such as database applications, data analytics, digital networks, wireless communications, mobile-device applications, cloud computing, embedded systems, and more.

Programs for Working Professionals

Many SAT students are exploring new careers or looking to enhance their skills, and balancing their personal lives while earning graduate degrees.

Courses are conveniently offered at times to suit working professionals’ schedules—and may be completed through daytime and evening coursework. The Master’s in Information Technology and Management degree may be completed entirely online.

Career-Targeted Specializations

SAT offers certificate programs composed of four graduate courses for those who want to concentrate on an area of interest without enrolling in a graduate degree. All approved courses (with a grade of a B or higher) may later be applied toward master’s degrees (for those accepted to a degree program).
